2021 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition

Now in its 28th year, the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition recognizes the exceptional work of North American architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential or commercial spaces.

Deadline to submit projects: March 1, 2021.

Prize

• Expense-paid trips to Coverings ( July 7-9, Orlando, FL ) and Cersaie ( Bologna, Italy )
• Special recognition for People’s Choice Award from online public voting gallery

Winners will be notified in April and officially announced at the Ceramics of Italy International Press Conference at Coverings, North America’s premier tile and stone trade show, taking place in Orlando, FL from July 2021.

The competition is open to all North American architects,interior designers and students. Domestic and international new construction and renovation projects completed between January 2016 and March 2021 are eligible for entry in the residential, commercial and institutional categories. Students must be enrolled at an accredited university in North America to be eligible.

Judging criteria

A panel of design experts will judge the projects based on their creativity, functionality, sustainability and aesthetic appeal. The of cial criterion for the jury includes: overall design of the project, innovative use of tile, tile design, degree that tile enhances the setting and the project’s sustainable attributes.

Extended Deadline

Submissions must be completed no later than March 1, 2021. Winners will be notified in April and officially announced at the Ceramics of Italy Press Conference at Coverings, to be held July 2021 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Eligibility

Commercial, residential, and institutional projects completed within the last five years ( January 2016 – March 2021 ) are eligible in the built categories. Projects can be new construction or renovation and domestic or international as long as the architect or designer is based in North America.

As it is a competition celebrating ITALIAN TILE, projects must feature ceramic or porcelain tile from at least one member company of Ceramics of Italy.

Students can work in teams or individually and must be enrolled at an accredited university in North America to be eligible.

Mixed Media Entries

Yes, you can use mix-medium, but a significant portion of the project should include Italian CERAMIC/PORCELAIN tile.

Can I enter the competition if I have won the project before?

Yes.

Can I submit more than one project?

Multiple submissions are permitted. Please fill out a separate form for each project.

How much does it cost to submit?

There is no charge for entry.

How do I submit?

Click Enter on the toolbar and complete the submission form on Submittable. If completed correctly, yous hould receive a unique #ID that corresponds with your submission. Use the #ID to upload a ZIP file with low resolution images of the project.
