Passion To Perform is an international art contest that aims to recognize and reward outstanding emerging art talent. Through each edition of our contest, we build a collection that reflects our ideals of excellence in performance and expressing passion in what we do.

MISSION

About Our Contest

Established in 2012, Passion to Perform is a competition with a mandate to foster the important contributions art makes to vibrant communities. The objective, since the beginning, has been to support and encourage emerging artists from around the world and develop a world class collection of work representing these artists.

2021 CONTEST

The 2021 contest will be ready November 5th, 2021

Closing date is February 28th 2022

Winners will be announced March 16th 2022

GOAL

Passion To Perform celebrates the interconnection between performance and passion, and aims to award winning entrants with meaningful compensation that can positively impact each artist’s practice and encourage them to pursue their passion.

SUBMISSIONS AND PRIZES

For this year’s contest, artists were welcome to submit paintings, drawings, mixed media, sculptures and photography as entries to Passion to Perform. The following prizes were awarded in $USD based on a jury selection:

• $7,000 for first place
• $3,500 for second place
• $1,500 for third place

In addition, a fund has been established to acquire additional artworks from the shortlist of finalists, which will then become part of the permanent collection.

This commitment complements a performance based culture driven by an entrepreneurial passion that is mirrored in the passion and commitment demonstrated by many emerging artists.

Pieces of art that become part of the permanent Passion To Perform collection may be displayed in Yamana Gold’s offices, thereby visually communicating a sense of performance to employees and visitors alike.

The following are the winners from past contests and pieces from our collection carefully curated over the years.

Entry Process

• The competition is open to any person practicing art, and each artist can submit up to 2 entries
• The panel of judges will initially review entries made through the online system. Following this, approximately 35 artists will be short listed. Only works that are short listed from the initial digital submission will be reviewed for final judging
• Notifications and instructions on the regional collection process will be sent to the short listed artists only via email

The competition is open to any person practicing art. The initial entry is online, followed by a second round of short listed works before final selection. Entry is free, at our portal. We will only be admitting 2 entries per person. The panel of judges will initially review entries made through the online system. Following this, approximately 35 artists will be short listed. Only works that are short listed from the initial digital submission will be reviewed for final judging. Notifications and instructions on the regional collection process will be sent to the short listed artists only via email.

TERMS

Rules and Conditions

1.Works entered must be an original composition created by the entrant. There is no maximum size or specific dimensions for the work.

2.Entrants should submit digital images of the artwork with a resolution of 300 DPI or higher.

3.All entrants will be required to register with the site and agree to the waiver and disclaimer found in the electronic submission form in order to enter the competition.

4.The entrant must specify the price of the artwork in the online registration form, as part of the initial online entry. This price will form the “catalogue selling price”, in the event the corporation wishes to acquire the artwork. This price is independent of shipping and insurance which will be borne by the company.

5.The value for the artworks can only be up to USD $1,500 in order to accommodate the possible acquisition of the artwork by Yamana Gold. Any submitted artwork with a registered value higher than USD$ 1,500 will not be accepted into the competition.

6.All of the short listed works will be transported to the corporate offices of Yamana Gold in Toronto, Canada, using regional collection centres set up by the company with reputable courier firms. The cost of shipment and insurance of the short listed entries will be borne by the company.

7.Notwithstanding the foregoing paragraph, submissions that are awarded any of first, second or third prizes will not receive the catalogue selling price for their artwork, the artwork will become the property of Yamana Gold and will not be returned.

8.Those short listed works that do not receive an award and those works that are not purchased by Yamana Goldwill be returned to the artists.

9.All artists and participants, by applying to the competition, agree to participate in media interviews and any other public relation events to promote their work and the competition.
