Purpose

The CubeSat Mission Design Contest (CMDC) encourages basic and applied research related to the space science and technology to inspire more innovations and more persons participating in space programs. The CMDC4 & the 8th Mission Idea Contest (MIC8), Taiwan is co-organized by NSPO and UNISEC-TAIWAN. The outstanding team will be recommended to represent Taiwan in the MIC8 hold in Japan in June, 2023.

Participants

1. Students from high schools and universities throughout the world.

2. Researchers from research institutes or enterprises in Taiwan.

3. Individuals or groups interested in CubeSat and Astronautics in Taiwan.

4. Teams should have 3 to 8 participants and they could be from different organizations. Each team is allowed to have 1 or 2 instructors for guiding their work.

* Note: The team currently supported by NSPO budget is not eligible to participate the contest using the same topic.

** Only one team per person.

Theme

Missions by multiple nano-satellites

Requirement

The mission is carried out by multiple satellites made of 6U CubeSat or smaller each.

The number of satellites can be anything as long as it is bigger than one, and the mission has clear benefits of having multiple satellites in orbit simultaneously. Constellation (with no inter-satellite link) missions and formation missions (with an inter-satellite link) are both encouraged.

* Note: The leading Taiwanese team could be recommended to represent Taiwan in the MIC8 by NSPO and UNISEC-Taiwan with financial support.

Note: Every participant in the team needs to register.

During the iCASE2022 CubeSat Mission Design Contest, Ansys Government Initiatives (AGI) and PERSISTENT SYSTEMS LTD. encourage participants to increase their creativity in Satellite Mission Planning. AGI provides System Tool Kit (STK) software free of charge to participating Taiwan student teams during the contest period to use. Press HEREif support needed.
