Foot Locker is pleased to announce the launch of Designing with Sole, sponsored by New Balance and supported by PENSOLE Academy, MLab, & FAAS Design Collab. Dedicated to creating a path for the underrepresented voices in our industry, including outreach and support of the Black community and its supporters, this hands-on master class is a multi-step, global design training program that will teach participants the product creation process. This is an unpaid educational opportunity provided at no cost to selected participants.

DESIGNING WITH SOLE

Students will be selected to partake in a 4-week design essentials program online. The top designers will then advance to our ‘learn by doing’ 12-week online masterclass. Students are introduced to a curriculum about the product creation process working with PENSOLE instructors, Foot Locker, and New Balance design mentors. At the end of this 12-week course, students will receive a certificate of completion. Some lucky students will be selected to earn a fully paid design apprenticeship at New Balance or a fully paid internship at Foot Locker Inc.

Program Eligibility

Design Essentials & Masterclass

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must not work at a footwear/apparel brand other than Foot Locker, Inc. team members and New Balance retail associates
If you are a Foot Locker, Inc. team member, you must be located in the US or Canada.
If you are a New Balance retail associate, you must be located in the US or Canada.

Pensole Launches 'Designing with Sole' Global Intensive Design Program May 20, 2021 12:14 am EDT Pensole , in partnership with Foot Locker & New Balance, has launched a hands-on, global intensive design program that creates opportunities for aspiring footwear and apparel designers and marketers who have been traditionally underrepresented in the industry. PENSOLE and New Balance will select the top 160 submissions among designers in footwear, color and materials, functional apparel and students in brand and product marketing. Finalists will be announced on June 21. The first online class of the program will take place between June 28th and July 23, after which 60 students will be selected to partake in a 12-week 'learn by doing' program in which students will form teams and will be introduced to the curriculum on the product creation process. This program will feature industry professionals from New Balance, ranging from design directors, designers, design recruiters, technicians, and developers - all willing to share knowledge to help inspire, guide and challenge students to reach their creative potential. The top 10 from this class will attend an in-person course at New Balance at the end of the class and North American participants will have the opportunity to receive a paid internship with Foot Locker and New Balance. more: pensole.com (38)
