The Antwerp University & Panathlon Drawing Contest is a yearly international contest where all university students worldwide are invited to create a drawing related to fair play in university sport. The aim of the contest is to develop a synergy between the worlds of student art and student sport, implementing the first fundamental principle of the Olympic Charter which states, inter alia, that Olympism blends sport with culture and education. The winning artist will be honored with the Alain Verschoren Drawing Contest Award. In addition, the 3 best artists receive a financial reward and the 15 best drawings are exhibited during a number of international expositions. The registration deadline is December 31.
CONTEST REGULATIONS
§1. Eligibility
The participant has to be a student in a university or any other institution of higher education according national law.
§2. Materials
The drawing can be made on paper or computer by using any drawing methods and techniques. Instruments include graphite pencils, pen and ink, inked brushes, wax color pencils, crayons, conté, charcoal, chalk, pastels, various kinds of erasers, markers, styluses, various metals (such as silverpoint) and digital painting. Other art forms such as painting and printmaking are also allowed by the Selection Commission.
§3. Theme
The drawing illustrates the vision of the Olympic Movement towards Ethics in University Sport and especially Fair Play and Universal Friendship.
§4. Size
The size of the drawing is – 30 cm x 40 cm – or – 40 cm x 50 cm – or – 50 cm x 70 cm.
§5. Application
A photo with resolution not less than 3264×2448 pixels (8.0 M Camera) or a file of the drawing is to be uploaded with your registration.
§6. Entry Deadline
The final entry deadline is 31 December.
§7. Sending us your drawing
If your drawing is selected, you are requested to post the drawing at own charges to the PCU Committee in Antwerp (Belgium).
§8. Property Rights
The 15 best drawings become property of the University of Antwerp with all ownership rights included. The PCU Committee reserves all reproduction rights for all drawings entering the contest.
§9. Agreement
By entering the contest, the artist agrees with the regulations mentioned above and the decisions of the Selection Commission. Their decision shall be final and is not subject to appeal. By entering the contest, the artist also represents his/her University or Institute of Higher Education in the PCU Committee Network without any obligation. No work that already belongs to a museum or a private collection can be entered in this contest. The works entered in this contest must be free of any third-party rights. The Contest organizer shall not be liable in relation to any such third-party rights.
SELECTION
In January the PCU Committee selects the best 15 drawings which will be exposed in a number of venues. The Drawing Contest Selection Commission appoints within these 15 drawings the best, second best and third best drawing. Decisions within the Selection Commission are taken by majority. In case no decision can be taken, the vote of the President of the Selection Commission is decisive. The Selection Commission meets once a year in Antwerp, Belgium. The artists of the 3 best drawings are rewarded financially.

AWARDS
The winning artist will be honored with the Alain Verschoren Drawing Contest Award. The award is named after Prof. Dr. Alain Verschoren, the first Chairman of the PCU Drawing and Photo Contests Selection Commissions, who passed away unexpectedly in 2020. He initiated the idea of the contests in 2016 as rector of the University of Antwerp.
