How to Take Part
How can I enter?
Register hereand set up your participant profile at any time. Enter your contact data and invoicing information.
Which projects can we enter?
Professionals can enter recent projects in two competition categories:
- Product: open to market-ready and new products, services and experiential environments
- Concept: open to prototypes, MVPs, service concepts, conceptual environments, foresight studies and research projects
Students, graduates and schools can enter bachelor’s or master’s projects in the New Talent category.
Solutions for all industries and application fields will be accepted. Submissions must include digital or electronic interfaces or functions. The market launch, or the start of the development process, must not date back more than two years at the time of submission.
How can we submit our entries?
In your participant profile, you can set up and submit competition entries from September to Novemberand March to Mayeach year. Submissions are unlimited for professionals and universities. Students and graduates can submit one project per participant.
- Enter public PR data and private project details for the jury. For additional information please download our checklistand the full participant guidelines.
- You can add a promotional film and a product explanation video for the judges (recommended).
- In addition, you can upload a PDF with information on user research, and link to web-based software or a demo application (optional).
You can save your projects at any time, and continue working on them until the submission deadline. Once your entries are final, submit online and select your preferred payment method. Visa and Pay Pal are available, as well as invoicing. Upon payment of the submission fee your entries will be admitted to the nomination stage.
What happens after the submission deadline?
Among all valid submissions, the jury will select a number of Nomineesthat will be admitted to the competition for the Awards. Congratulations if the jury nominates your entry!
- Each nominated entry will take part in the crucial next judging rounds for the run-up to the Awards, and will benefit from extensive PR services.For professional entries a nomination feewill be due upon acceptance of a nomination.
- In subsequent judging rounds, the jury will choose the Award winners and special mentionsin each competition category.
- In addition, all Nominees will compete for the Public Choice Award, chosen in a global public online vote.
All winners will be pronounced in a Virtual Award Ceremony. The ceremony marks the highlight of each Award season, and at the same time the beginning of the next call for entries.

What are the participation costs?
New Talent section:
- Submission fee: € 50
Professional sections Product and Concept:
- Submission fee: € 320
- Nomination package: € 1,950
Fees include all servicesrelated to the competition participation and judging, including extensive promotional services, trophies, and the unlimited right of use for all awarded titles.No hidden or recurring costs.
All prices are per submission excluding VAT. For company members of the International Design Center Berlinthe submission fee for one project is waived.

Gold Award
By awarding the UX Design Award | Gold, the jury of experts from design, research and business honors the best projects of each competition.
Award
In each category, the jury presents the following titles to outstanding products, concepts, services and research projects: UX Design Award | Product, UX Design Award | Concept, and among emerging designers the UX Design Award | New Talent.
In addition, UX professionals and users worldwide vote online to select a UX Design Award | Public Choiceamong all nominees.
Special Mention
With a Special Mention, the jury can emphasize specific individual qualities of nominated projects.
Nomination
Among all valid submissions, the jury nominates a limited number of entries to participate in the competition. All selected projects receive the title UX Design Award | Nominated. They are promoted extensively and take part in the judging for the Awards and Special Mentions.
Judging Criteria
The UX Design Awards focus on the positive impact of people-oriented products, concepts and research that provide meaningful solutions for real needs.
The Award jury will evaluate each submission through a scoring system based on the following judging criteria:
Relevance
We expect submissions to be relevant. They should address substantial challenges, improve situations and create value – for business, people and the planet. Besides, products and services should take sustainable principles and resource-saving into account.

Innovation

Entrants should be able to show how a product or service is expected to succeed on the market. Feasibility and measurable outcomes should be reasonably explained.

Holistic Thinking and User-Centric Approach
Solutions must be based on consistent user-centered research. The development process should align design, research and business functions to create the best of outcomes.

Design and Experience Quality
Submissions should excel through consistent design, intuitive use, interoperability, universal comprehensibility and inclusiveness. Services should offer a positive experience level across all touchpoints. Unnecessary features should be avoided.
Entries must show a high design quality: design systems, visual elements, aesthetics and brand fit are all part of a UX. UX writing is another important element: the quality of texts, an appropriate language and tone of voice complement the experience quality.
